Blog #10

During this semester of class I had good and not so good experiences. This experiences help me to grow as a person and to do things that I though will not be able to do.

I think that this new experience of bloging even do I didn’t like it very much was a good one and helps us to open our minds to new things. I really cannot give recomendations for the blog because I dont know much about it. But if I had to change something it will be the dead line for posting our blogs. I think that it will be much better if we had more time to post the blogs because there are times that we are really in a hurry and cannot post them.

So I will finish this blog telling to all of you to take care of your self and to always work hard for the things that you want. Bye

Blog # 9

In the graphic novel Maus we can see many problems and situations by which people pass trough in something as simple as a comic.

I never before had the experience of reading a novel that was all of comics and after Maus I think that maybe I will do it again sometime. Definitely reading a graphic novel is more entertaining and easy to understand than normal novels in which there are no drawings to help us understand better the situation.

After reading Maus I was very interested in looking for information about the events that the author of the novel was talking. It's very interesting how the author exposes to us all the things that happened to his parents and that had a great effect in his life as a kid and as an adult.

Blog #8 M. Butterfly

In this drama, M. Butterfly we have Gallimard who is a man that lives in china and serves in the embassy. He also is married to Helga but has an adventure with an actor called Song. Gallimard meets her in a theater were she is performing. Gallimard is a man that during his adolescence was not popular with girls and was very shy to talk to them. During his stay in China he meets Song that resulted to be a man and that was a spy send by the Chinese. As time pass Gallimard not knowing that song was a man falls in love with her and wants to divorce his wife Helga. Then after twenty-years Song tells Gallimard the truth and Gallimard realizes the truth but still says that he is in love with Butterfly that was the character that Song played. He says that he knew the difference between truth and fantasy and that he decides for fantasy. At the end of the drama Gallimard takes a knife and says, “Death with honor is better than life…life with dishonor” and putting on butterfly’s wig and kimono and saying, “My name is Rene Gallimard also known as Madame Butterfly” kills himself.
In this drama they make seem the oriental women’s as submissive and that they like to be treated bad but the man also are unfaithful and have lots of woman. Also we can see corruption and homosexuality. This drama has betrayal and many things that makes it one interesting and entertaining.

Blog# 7 "The Road not Taken"

In this poem Robert Frost let us know the importance that decisions have in people's life and how does decisions can change the life of person.
In this poem Robert Frost thinks of the decision he once made and what would have happen to him if he would have taken a different decision. Maybe some time in our life we have stop to think what would have happen if we had taken an other decision or have done someting different that what we did. But we will never know because the decisions we can only take them one time and their is no going back.
I think that when we have to make decisions we have to be carefull because they can change your life forever.

blog #7 My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun

In this poem William Shakespeare is comparing his loved one with different things. But their is something about his descriptios that caught my attention, they all are bad comparisons.

For example, Sahkespeare says, "If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head" or "Coral is far more red than her lips red". With this he let us know that his loved one is not beautiful. But he also let us know that the beauty is not the most important thing in love.

Shakespeare gives us the message that we should love person's not only for the outside but the inside. And that no matter's if your loved one is beautiful or not so beautiful the important thing is that you loved her or he and that he loves you too.

Blog #6 She being brand

In this poem we can see how the author compares a car with a virgin woman having relations for the first time. It's amazing how the author E.E. Cummings uses the paragraph division and word division to give the poem a diferent meaning. Also E.E. Cummings uses the different punctuation marks like comas and parenthesis to give the poem a special touch and unique structure. This poem uses very weird word division that makes it fun but also difficult to understand if you do not read the words correctly doing the different pauses.

I think E.E. Cummings is a great poet because it should not be easy arranging words that have nothing to do with sex and give them that significance like he did with this poem.

Reflection # 5 Evelyn and A&P

In the stories Evelyn and A&P we can see how the decisions of persons change peoples life drastically.

First in Evelyn we see a woman that was victim of her father's abuse and has the oportunity of leaving with a man taht loves her but decides not to do it and to stay living with her father. I think that Evelyn should had left her father and look for her own happiness but she didn't because she was afraid of changes I supose.

In the second story we have this guy that works in a supermarket and for impressing some girls leaves his job but also does it because he is bored of working in the same place. I think he made a good decision and everybody should always look for changes that benefit them and never be conformist or afraid of changes.

So in this stories we have two persons who made decisions with their lifes. One wanted a change and the other didn't want to change. I think we should explore new things and always look for more than what we have so that we can progress for better and do not live in monotony.

Reflection # 4 Girl

In this story we can see how a mother talks to her daughter. When we first read this story we think taht the mother is totally crazy because of the things she tells to her daughter and by the tone she uses. But if we analyze the story we can see and understand that the only thing the mother is doing is telling her daughter how to be a good housewife.

Many times mothers talk to us girls and teach us how to do things right in the house and with our husbands when someday we have one. This is like a tradition that has been there during many years. Women's are taught by there mothers how to do things and then they will keep passing it to their own girls with little modifications and this will continue like a chain.

So to finish mothers have the responsability to educate their daughters but have to be careful how they do it and the way that they do it. This way girls will grow to be good woman's who know how to keep a job but also know how to keep a house.

Reflectio #3 The storm

in this story we can see how persons are unfaithful to their wifes or husbands and still continue with their lifes like nothing happened. Many times people make wrong decisions but don't do nothing to fix it. I think that Alcee and Calixta made a wrong decision when they got married but dont want to leave their respective husband and wife and instead decided to have this love encounters even knowing that they are doing something wrong.

Maybe they like many people don't want to divorced because of their children and instead have this affairs with other persons. I think that people who are in this situation should leave their actual partners and continue with their lives because the only ones that are going to suffer are the kids if they have like in the case of the persons in the story and kids dont have to pay the consecuences that errors that adult commit have.

Reflection #2 "A good man is hard to find"

I think that this story is a reptresentation of the situation that we are living know days. In actuality we cannot trust everybody, we have to be careful and precautios in the things we do.

In this days is hard to find a person that is willing to help you with out expecting something from you. The values and the moral of the persons has been forgotten by people. Kids are not being taught respect in their houses and this is causing yhat when they grow up they become bad peoples to our society.

I think that the values and to be a good person is taught by the fathers giving the example to their kids and if the familys does not do it the next generations will have no moral values and good persons will be harder and harder to find.

Reflection #1

"The boy Without a flag" Many times in our life's we are told what to do and how to do it. This is something that happens mostly when we are kids, most of the times our parents impose us the things that they're parents impose to them when they were kids and it comes the time when it becomes a tradition and sometimes not following them or thinking some way else may become umacceptable and even may result in a punishment. This was exactly what happen to the kid of the story "the boy wihout a flag" he didn't want to do it but he had to because it was tradition and he was force to do it een when he taught it was not right. In my opinion nobody should be obligated to do someting they think is wrong or it dosent come from that person to do it or belive in it. For that reason is that we always should think and act for our selfe's and never let anyone to impose us what do we have to think and do.
